"Platelet Gel, or PRP, is comprised of a range of autologous growth factors which act synergistically to accelerate the rate and degree of tissue regeneration, improving wound healing. When concentrated autologous platelets are mixed with calcified thrombin a series of structural and functional changes involved in coagulation take place. Secreted from the platelets are a number of factors including serotonin, fibronectin, adenosine diphosphate, thromboxane A, platelet factor 4, platelet derived growth factor and platelet activating factor. Release of these factors cause a chemotactic response and initiates the process of migration between the endothelial cells.
PlateletsThe release of these factors cause a chemotactic response and initiates the process of migration between the endothelial cells. As more factors continue to be released from platelets, monocytes and macrophages, angiogenesis, osteogenesis and the formation of granulation tissue is promoted.Clinical applications appear to be widespread. In treating chronic non-healing wounds and various plastic surgery procedures including face-lifts, laser resurfacing, breast lifts, and tummy tucks.

The application of autologous platelet gel to face, neck or brow lifts eliminates the majority of the bruising and swelling normally associated with these procedures. Healing is enhanced, with the average “down” time cut in half.
The application of autologous platelet gel in laser resurfacing has shown to eliminate the weeping seen in these cases. Total re-epithelialization is seen in 7-9 days."
